POM, nylon, PTFE, PE, fibreglass and sandwich panels: milling, drilling and tapping of technical parts.
Engineering plastics – POM, nylon, PTFE, polyethylene (PE, HDPE) – are milled and tapped on VERSO machines. The recommended tool is a single-flute end mill with a right-hand helix.
Tapping is performed by the VSR's UTM module, with an automatic drilling-tapping cycle defined in the CAD software. For solid PVC, see the PVC page (shown here, a 20 mm solid PVC part).
On the VSR, the UTM has been used to tap from M2 to M12, as well as some pipe threads or special threads, and on some set-ups up to PG16. The possible size depends on the hardness of the material.
